Factors that Influence the Relationships Between Divorced Fathers and Their Children

Abstract

This paper is a literature review discussing some of the factors that influence relationships between divorced fathers and their children. The following factors are discussed: (1) father role confusion, (2) legal issues, (3) parental status, (4) former wife and mother of the children, (5) relationship between the divorced father and the former wife, and (6) the divorced father. In addition, male gender issues and how they impact the relational competency of divorced fathers with their children are discussed.
