Pages 55-71 | Received 01 Oct 2000, Accepted 01 Aug 2001, Published online: 22 Oct 2008

ABSTRACT

This study examines critical learning experiences of owner-managers of Romanian small private companies, which enabled them to lead successfully in the transition to a free market economy, in order to determine what triggered their learning, what strategies they used and what lessons they derived from their learning experiences. The lenses through which managers saw their world framed their critical incidents and learning experiences. The findings as well as their practical and theoretical implications are discussed.
