Children of Battered Women

Impact of Emotional Abuse on Adjustment and Development

Abstract

Information related to factors which influence the adjustment and development of children of battered women is discussed, and evidence for these youngsters experiencing emotional abuse is presented. Research regarding the children's psychological adjustment is reviewed, with mediating variables identified that play a role in the heterogeneity seen in the children's psychological functioning and development. Suggestions for future research are provided.
