N-Acylsulfonamide apoptosis promoters

Abstract

N-Acylsulfonamides, with the general formula shown as compound 1, are claimed to act as low micromolar inhibitors of BCL-Xl, an antiapoptotic protein that has been demonstrated to play a very important role in a variety of cancers. The synthesis and biological assay of a large series of such sulfonamides is reported.
