It has been highlighted to the editors that a review article published in Expert Opinion on Investigational Drugs in 2000 Citation[1] has some overlap in content with another review article published by the same group in Clinical Nephrology in 2000 Citation[2]. In accordance with the guidelines issues by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) this was investigated by the editors and authors of the paper.

In the interests of full transparency, the Expert Opinion editors and authors would like to convey the results of the investigation to the readers of the journal.

The Clinical Nephrology article Citation[2] is aimed at clinicians, with a focus on ensuring the correct diagnosis and treatment of patients, and the Expert Opinion article Citation[1] is aimed at research scientists with a focus on new drugs in development for amyloidosis.

Therefore, while there is overlap in content between the two review papers, they are clearly aimed at different audiences, and are therefore both acceptable and should both remain part of the literature record.
