Following publication of this article, two errors have been identified.

In Table 1, under the heading ‘Time since diagnosis (years)’ in the ‘Variable’ column, ‘≤ 10 years’ should be ‘≥ 10 years’. The corrected table is shown below.

In the Discussion section, the sentence ‘At baseline, the daily blood glucose fluctuations were higher and the glycemic/metabolic parameters were less well controlled in patients who were not concomitantly treated with metformin than in patients not treated with metformin (data not shown)’ should have read ‘At baseline, the daily blood glucose fluctuations were higher and the glycemic/metabolic parameters were less well controlled in patients who were not concomitantly treated with metformin than in patients treated with metformin (data not shown)’.
