Abstract
The editors would like to inform the readers that the following article has been withdrawn due to significant duplication of previously published material.
CL Densmore. Polyethyleneimine-based gene therapy by inhalation. Expert Opin Biol Ther 2003;3(7):1083-92.
It was highlighted to the editors that the content of this article was very similar to a previously published manuscript, -“The re-emergence of aerosol gene delivery: a viable approach to lung cancer therapy” published in Current Cancer Drug Targets, Volume 3, Number 4, August 2003, pp. 275-286 (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12871058), which was confirmed on investigation by the editors of both journals.
Although the investigation concluded no wrong-doing on the part of the author, it was decided to retract the article to correct the redundancy in the literature record.
Unfortunately, the author passed away in March 2011, before the duplication was noted, and so could not comment.
