Abstract
Weight and length data were obtained for 113 populations of brook trout Salvelinus fontinalis across the species' geographic range in North America to estimate a standard-weight (Ws ) equation for this species. Estimation was done by applying the regression-line-percentile technique to fish of 120–620 mm total length (TL). The proposed metric-unit (g and mm) equation is log10 Ws = −5.186 + 3.103 log10TL; the English-unit (lb and in) equivalent is log10 Ws = −3.483 + 3.103 log10TL. No systematic length bias was evident in the relative-weight values calculated from these equations.
