Expert Review of Neurotherapeutics : monthly issues and wider access in 2006

Page 5000 | Published online: 10 Jan 2014

Expert Review of Neurotherapeutics was launched 5 years ago at a time of massive growth in medical information. That expansion continues apace, especially on the web. So the problem for the busy clinician is now to find actionable information quickly and in an accessible way. The requirement that the information needs to be actionable also means that it must be of excellent pedigree. It was to address such needs that Expert Review of Neurotherapeutics was developed. The format is carefully structured to ensure that reviews are accessible. The topics are selected carefully through liaison with our Expert Advisory Panel. Quality is assured through rigorous peer review involving three independent assessments per article. Finally, the journal offers industry-leading publication times through the efforts of the dedicated London-based in-house editorial team.

Five years on, the response from the neurology community has been excellent and has resulted in a real upswing in our flow of high-quality reviews. As a result, and from this issue, Expert Review of Neurotherapeutics will now appear on a monthly basis. The new publication schedule also means that we can visit each specialist neurology section every 6 months, instead of at yearly intervals. So more than ever, readers can expect a critical mass of high-quality evaluated and structured reviews, and authors can expect rapid publication and personal attention throughput the publication process.

One other change for 2006 is that the journal will be available not only from our own website (www.future-drugs.com) but also from the ingenta aggregation service (www.ingentaconnect.com), so we will be able to reach an even wider audience. This gives users the option of using the dedicated site – featuring advanced functionality for both our users and librarians – or using the ‘one-stop shop’ option of IngentaConnect, which now has a user base of over 19,000 registered institutions and millions of end users.

Of course, the development and success of the journal has been very much dependant on the efforts of our Editorial Panel, authors and referees. We have developed some very stimulating and rewarding relationships along the way, and on behalf of the publishing team, I would like to thank everyone who has helped to make the journal what it is today.

We look forward with great anticipation to the higher profile and monthly publication of Expert Review of Neurotherapeutics through 2006. We strive for continued development and the best coverage of the most topical issues in neurology and we welcome any comments or suggestions you may have.
