Fertility preservation for the female oncology patient

Pages 155-161 | Published online: 10 Jan 2014

Abstract

Improved success rates in treating cancer have allowed many young women to lead normal lives after successfully overcoming their disease. However, most of today’s current treatments involve aggressive chemotherapy or radiation that irreversibly affect female fertility. Improving assisted-conception techniques and fertility-sparing strategies provide options for young women who would like to have children of their own after cancer treatment.
