Fractional resurfacing

Abstract

The development of pixilated delivery of high-pulse energy to the deep dermis, using water as the chromophore, is an ingenious approach to treatment of various cutaneous conditions, including photodamage, scarring, dyspigmentation, vascular lesions and adnexal proliferations. This treatment paradigm allows safe treatment of these conditions not only on the face, but also virtually any anatomical location, using the appropriate treatment parameters. This has been the most significant development in laser technology and clinical applications that has occurred over the past two decades. This review covers the earliest to the most current publications regarding the use of the various fractional laser devices that have been developed by multiple companies.
