Abstract
The 3rd International Conference on Viral Oncology Research, supported by the Italian Society for Virology, took place in Naples on 4–6 October 2011. The meeting was articulated in five sessions covering all aspects of viral oncology from laboratory science to clinical interventions. The session topics were epidemiology and mechanisms of virus-associated cancers; oncogenic DNA viruses; oncogenic RNA viruses and preventive and therapeutic strategies for virus-associated neoplasia. More than 100 scientists attended the meeting. A summary of the invited lectures and oral selected presentations is reported.
