Abstract

The caloric reaction was abnormal in 84% of the patients. In 65% of all patients the caloric response was reduced. A combination of reduced excitability and directional preponderance was a common finding. The disease was found bilateral in 14%. After 10 years of disease this frequency was raised to 25%.

Both the caloric response and the hearing seemed to deteriorate mainly during the initial years.
