Tone Pitch Intelligibility, Hearing Adaptation and Fatigue

Abstract

Ten of 70 tested musicians and members of choirs were able to discriminate without error and remember different tone pitch and loudness thresholds. Perstimulatory fatigue for the tones C₃, C₄, C₅ and C₆ at intensities of 50—80 dB was evident. Its degree was determined by the loudness balance of 35 dB in approx. 2–3 min. Adaptation took place during 5–10 sec, depending on the sensitivity of the tested person.
