Abstract
The zonal structures of the otolithic membrane in the squirrel monkey were investigated by electron microscopy, and the different morphology at the different zones was described. The definite existence of the cupular zone and subcupular zone was determined in the subhuman primates and some functional considerations were made. The cupular zone was divided into two subzones which demonstrated different morphological features. The structure of the otoconia was also investigated electron-microscopi-cally.
