Abstract
Directional Threshold of Intelligibility (DTI) was investigated in 20 patients with practical deafness in one ear and impaired hearing in the other ear. The DTI was measured without and with background noise, without and with hearing aid. All of the patients were examined with a special form of hearing aid: a microphone was placed on each ear, and impulses from these were transmitted to the better ear. Seven patients were also examined with behind-the-ear hearing aid fitted on the better ear. The first form of treatment seemed to give better results.
