Abstract
Aminoglycosides in aquarium water produce a temporary impairment of sensitivity in the lateral line organ offish. If Ca++ ions are supplied at the same time, the impairment in lateral line sensitivity can be alleviated in a dose-dependent manner. This mechanism appears to be based on competitive antagonism.
