On the Gravimetric Estimation of Fibrinogen in Plasma

Pages 353-356 | Received 03 Apr 1963, Published online: 08 Jul 2009

Abstract

Comparative investigations of fibrinogen estimation in plasma carried out by recalcification and with thrombin showed that the recalcification method gave values which are, on an average, a little higher than those found with the thrombin method. Moreover, the investigations showed that by recalcification, analytical error may arise due to occlusion of other proteins in the fibrin clot. A rather larger analytical error may arise on account of occlusion of lipids. Further washing and extraction does not seem to diminish these analytical errors. Storage does not seem to affect the experimental results obtainable by recalcification.
