Abstract
Four subjects reported by Jacobsen to have an abnormally high proteolytic (= fibrinolytic) capacity (PC) after activation of plasma with urokinase were reinvestigated. They were found to have 0–20% of inhibitors of plasminogen activation but normal levels of α2-macroglobulin and α1-antitrypsin, and normal or only slightly elevated plasminogen levels. After gel filtration on Sephadex G-200, one of the normally occurring peaks of the inhibitors of plasminogen activation was missing. This seems to be the first time a deficiency of inhibitors of plasminogen activation has been reported.
