Metabolism of Bence Jones Proteins in Multiple Myeloma Patients and in Patients with Renal Disease

Pages 13-21 | Received 24 Jan 1970, Accepted 22 Apr 1970, Published online: 08 Jul 2009

Abstract

The rate of synthesis of Bence Jones proteins in 5 multiple myeloma patients was calculated from turnover studies and immunoassay in serum. Calculations were made of correlations between turnover parameters and the renal function in the myeloma patients and in 7 patients with renal disease. The fractional catabolic rate and the proteinuric rate were significantly correlated with the serum creatinine.
