Occupational Risks in Danish Clinical Chemical Laboratories. I

Pages 21-25 | Received 07 Nov 1973, Accepted 19 Dec 1973, Published online: 08 Jul 2009

Abstract

An enquiry covering most clinical chemical laboratories in Denmark reveals that hepatitis, burns, and cuts are the most common causes of injury to the staff. The number fraction rate of person injuries is more than 0.010 per year and seems unnecessarily high. Various actions in order to avoid injuries are suggested. This is the more important as injuries resulting in disability may occur. It should be pointed out that the construction of the tube carrier and its mounting system was the cause of most of the dangerous episodes with centrifuges.
