Brief-Tone-Audiometry Summary of dissertation submitted to the University of Copenhagen, September 1973

Pages 27-33 | Received 29 Sep 1975, Published online: 12 Oct 2009

Abstract

When increasing the duration of a tone-impulse in the time domain 0–200 milliseconds, the hearing threshold will improve. Brief-Tone-Audiometry is a new audiological test in which the ability of the acoustic system to integrate, or summate, acoustic energy is investigated. This paper summarizes the author's extensive experimental and clinical investigations on the temporal integration in normally hearing subjects and in patients with different auditory disorders. The hearing-physiological and diagnostic aspects of the results are outlined.
