Abstract
Eight patients with four different types of objective tinnitus are presented. One had a pulsatile vascular tinnitus, three a high pitched pure tone vascular tinnitus, and three had a clicking tinnitus associated with palatal myoclonus apparently of psychological aetiology. In the final case, the tinnitus was produced by an insect trapped in the patient's external acoustic meatus. A simple classification of causes of objective tinnitus is outlined.
