Abstract
Hemoglobin Hirose or β37 (C3) Trp→Ser (1), found in two unrelated Japanese, has been characterized by a marked tendency to dissociate into subunits and by high oxygen affinity (2,3), while it has never been associated with erythrocytosis (4). We report here two additional, apparently unrelated cases of heterozygosity for Hb Hirose.
