Farewell Editorial from Current Editors

This month marks the end of the 13th year that we have acted as the editors of the International Journal of Radiation Biology (IJRB). It has been both an exciting and very informative time during which we have learnt much about many aspects of radiation biology. During this time the Journal has moved to electronic submission with Scholar One and after moving to management by Informa Healthcare Inc. has recently moved back to management by the original publisher, Taylor and Francis. An overriding concern for all editors is to publish high quality science and with an acceptance rate of approximately 40% we believe we have generally managed to do this. One of our other interests as editors has been to promote radiation biology studies across the international sphere and we are happy that we were able to publish papers from 47 different countries last year. However, as we move increasingly into the electronic age, the time has come for new ideas and new leadership for IJRB and we are very happy to let all our readers know that the new editor of the Journal as of October 2015 will be Dr Gayle Woloschak, an internationally known radiation biologist, based at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

There are many people we would like to thank for making it possible for us to successfully manage the Journal and all the manuscripts submitted. First, our authors, without you the Journal could not publish the high quality science that it does. Please continue to submit your best work to the Journal. Second, our group of Associate Editors an addition we made to the editorial management of the Journal in 2012. This group of individuals (listed on the inside front cover) have been critical to maintaining high reviewing standards. Third, our International Advisory Board, who have provided continual support both as reviewers and as advisors for issues such as those concerning direction and content for the science to be published in the Journal. Fourthly, the Journal production staff at Taylor and Francis and Informa, who have worked with us to maintain a high quality product delivered on time to you our readers. Finally, and most important, our sincere thanks to our Managing Editor, Dianne Dixon, who has worked tirelessly and very eff ectively over the last 13 years to make sure that everything in the editorial office ran as smoothly as possible and, as our expert in the Scholar One system, coached us all to make sure that we were able to get the most out of the system and that our submitting authors were able to negotiate its occasional vaguaries.

Thank you all, we will of course be continuing to follow the success of the Journal.
