Veronika Fialka-Moser, MD, famous professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria, passed away on Wednesday, 2 April 2014. She was Head of the most important Department of PM&R at a University in Austria – and she has been the first female clinic-professor at the Medical University of Vienna ever.
Fialka-Moser’s primary research focused on different topics of the field of PM&R. She was conducting extensive studies on the treatment of complex regional pain syndrome and on other relevant topics such as cancer rehabilitation, lymphedema and gender medicine. Veronika Fialka-Moser was an author and co-author of numerous research studies focused on relevant topics in the field of PM&R. She was an editor and member of the editorial boards in the most important journals of the field of PM&R.
At the Medical University of Vienna, Austria, she had an enormous impact, especially concerning topics such as gender and diversity. Fialka-Moser was also an advocate for disabled people and the Head of the so-called Behindertenbeirat of the Medical University of Vienna, Austria.
