Morrison et al. (2010) An Evidence-based Protocol for Smoking Cessation for Persons with Psychotic Disorders Journal of Addictions Nursing, 21(2–3), 79–86 [DOI: 10.3109/10884602.2010.481505]

The paper referenced above contained errors. The corrected sentences are printed below:

Page 82, first column, first line, the following paragraph has by mistake been omitted. “Chou, et al., (2004) performed a longitudinal study on the effectiveness of the nicotine patch in 68 schizophrenic adults recruited from psychiatric day care, with 26 randomly assigned to the 8-week nicotine patch group and 42 assigned to the usual care control group, matched according to baseline CO levels (Chou et al., 2004). Pertinent biological and psychological outcomes were considered and results showed significant differences in number of cigarettes smoked per day in the nicotine patch group, from week 1 to 3 month follow-up (z = −3.52, p < .001, z = −5.75, p < .0001 respectively) (Chou et al., 2004). Abstinence rates were: 26.9% at 8 weeks and 3 months but did not reach statistical significance (Chou et al., 2004). Findings are level III evidence, although the sample was small and only male (n = 68), limiting the strength of the findings (Chou et al., 2004).”

Page 83, “A meta-analysis (level II)” should read “A meta-analysis (level I)”

Page 83, “l2(3, N = 180)” should read “χ2(3, N = 180)”

Page 83, “36, l2(3, N = 180)” should read “36, χ2(3, N = 180)“

Page 83, second column, third paragraph, the following sentence has by mistake been omitted. “The effectiveness of MI was also significant in the Baker et al. (2006) study and findings revealed that subjects who attended all CBT and MI sessions were more likely to quit smoking at each follow-up visit (point prevalence rates: 3 months 30% vs. 6%, 6 months 18.6% vs. 4% and 12 months 18.6% vs. 6.6%) (Baker et al., 2006).”
