Changes among Associate Editors

Page 209 | Received 11 Oct 2015, Accepted 12 Oct 2015, Published online: 16 Nov 2015

A scientific journal like Amyloid is highly dependent on its associate editors. The associate editors have the primary responsibility for many of the papers, are those who recruit reviewers to them and who recommend the fate of reviewed papers. All these things are difficult and delicate and have to be done with deep knowledge, objectivity and integrity. I am very happy to definitely say that Amyloid has had no problems in recruiting such persons.

As previously announced, very sadly, our highly valued colleague David Seldin passed away during the summer. Only two weeks before this happened he sent me his last recommendation regarding the acceptance of a paper but also wrote that it was time for me to find a new associate editor. He certainly can serve as an example to all of us.

Jean Sipe was an associate editor from the first issue of Amyloid and she stayed at this position for almost 20 years, a probably unbeatable record. She has been taking care of many of the papers dealing with basic scientific subjects. Her knowledge, carefulness and willingness to help have been of utmost importance for the journal. We thank her for all these years of unselfish work.

I am now happy to announce that we have enrolled three new persons as associate editors, each with expertise in different fields. These are Barbara Kluve-Beckerman, Indianapolis, Indiana, Vaishali Sanchorawala, Boston, Massachusetts, and Yukio Ando, Kumamoto, Japan. We bid them all welcome to this work and I look forward to future cooperation.
