Abstract

Objective: To clarify the correlation between serum fetuin-A levels and the presence and severity of coronary artery disease (CAD) in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM).

Methods: A total of 241 consecutive patients with T2DM and 69 controls were recruited. Serum fetuin-A levels were analyzed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The presence and severity of CAD were evaluated by coronary angiography (CAG).

Results: Serum fetuin-A levels are independently correlated with the presence and severity of CAD in T2DM patients.

Conclusions: Fetuin-A might serve as a potential biomarker for reflecting the development and progression of CAD in T2DM patients.
