Abstract
The team model is widely used for the integration of interdisciplinary staff in health care settings, to produce co-ordinated patient care and problem-solving. Most teams, like all groups, function on two levels, organisational and dynamic. In a highly technical specialty, the organisational level is mostly promoted, recognised and evaluated. This article focuses on the dynamic level of a working team in a surgical clinic and on the methodological questions about its evaluation. Critical issues in the design were selection, history, maturation and the lack of a control group.
