Abstract
“Language as an apparatus for the communication of thought within a speech community has by convention three main aspects: Phonemic system, Lexicon and Grammar. there is a far-reaching similarity between the members of the speech community, not only in the phonemic system, the vocabulary and grammar, but also in the frequency of use of particular phonemes, lexicon items (words) and particular grammatical forms and structures; in other words, a similarity not only in what is used, but also in how often it is used” (Herdan, 1956).
