VDGM: VASCO DA GAMA MOVEMENT

Invitation to Vasco da Gama Movement GPs to attend the UK's Society for Academic Primary Care (SAPC) 2011 conference in Bristol

& , MBChB, DRCOG

The Society for Academic Primary Care in the UK should like to invite up to 10 outstanding young Vasco da Gama Movement GP researchers from Europe to attend a conference exchange from the 6–8 July 2011 in Bristol, UK.

Delegates will be hosted with UK academic GPs or GP trainees, and will have the opportunity to spend half a day in a UK GP practice as well as attending the SAPC conference. The programme will consist of high quality research presentations, workshops and social events. Specific workshops for the international delegates will offer the chance to find out the situation for GP research in different countries. Delegates should be an enthusiastic group of people who are willing to participate actively and spin off their experiences back home.

This invitation is open to GP trainees and young GPs within the first five years of qualification who have been involved in, or have a strong interest in research. The exchange would benefit from young European GP researchers from as many different countries as possible. Places will be offered on a first come first served basis and applications need to be submitted via your country's VdGM Council Representative. Those who will attend are encouraged to submit abstracts to the conference: abstract submission deadline is Friday 11 February 2011 (http://www.sapc.ac.uk/2011/).

Delegates will be offered reduced price entry to the conference at £220, which will include accommodation with a host, visit to a UK GP practice and free attendance at the drinks reception.

For further information please contact Dr Jessica Watson ([email protected]) and your country's VdGM council member whose contact details can be found here: http://www.vdgm.eu/index.cfm/spKey/europe_council.membership.html.
