THE EGPRN AT THE 20TH WONCA WORLD CONFERENCE IN PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC 25–29 JUNE 2013

At the 20th Wonca World Conference, the European General Practice Research Network (EGPRN) will contribute actively. Here is a list and brief description of the EGPRN workshops:

(1) ‘Evidence based new Wonca definition & the EGPRN Research Agenda,’ by Mehmet Ungan.

EGPRN's ‘European Research Agenda’ intends to complement the EURACT Educational Teaching Agenda, which addresses academic and vocational training. The starting point for developing the RA was the domain of general practice in Europe, as described in the six core competencies (the eleven characteristics comprised therein) of the Wonca definition. A second framework was the core domains of GP/FM research, including also: (i) Research on education and research on teaching in general practice; (ii) Sources in RA on Educational research; (iii) Teaching & Learning effects in Research Agenda. Aim of the workshop is to search for published evidences to be used in a new definition.

(2) ‘TRANSFoRm: development of a diagnostic decision support tool for primary care,’ by Derek Corrigan, Theo Arvanitis, Olga Kostopoulou, and Jean Karl Soler.

The ongoing TRANSFoRm project is currently developing a diagnostic decision support tool that can be deployed as part of a shared electronic infrastructure more broadly supporting translational medicine for primary care. This workshop will present progress to date on the three strands of decision support activities: diagnostic strategies, clinical evidence modelling and interface design.

(3) ‘Writing for Publication’ an EGPRN/EJGP/VdGM joint workshop by Jelle Stoffers and colleagues from VdGM.

Expected participants will be both authors interested in research or medical writing with little or no previous experience in publishing and also more experienced authors willing to share their experiences. The aim of this workshop is to give participants knowledge about successfully preparing a manuscript for a medical journal.
