Abstract
Phonetograms were recorded for 10 female and 10 male dysphonic patients as well as 10 female and 10 male normal speaking controls, before and after reading aloud for 15 minutes while being subjected to a masking noise. Both the female and the male patients' lower phonetogram contours were significantly raised after the reading as compared with before, while no statistically significant movement of the upper contour was noted. Neither contour was significantly changed for female and male controls.
