Osteoplastic Thoracoplasty as Palliative Treatment of Thoracic Deformity in Scoliosis

Abstract

In 8 patients with scoliosis and marked thoracic deformity osteoplastic thoracoplasty was performed to locally reduce the thoracic deformity. Subjectively the results were satisfactory in all but one case. Roentgenological studies including transversal tomography also demonstrated reduction of the thoracic deformity in 7 of the 8 cases.
