Abstract
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the success of the probation treatment program (PTP) and how it affected the 6-week cannabis-free period rates in cannabis users (CU) referred by probation.
Method: A total of 866 cannabis users referred by probation were enrolled in the PTP, which consisted of three stages. During each stage, a substance analysis was performed on each participant three times (once every 2 weeks). Any participant who tested positive for cannabis use in the analysis was directed to the next stage. When the requirements are not met by CUs in any stage, the PTP was considered unsuccessful.
Results: Ultimately, 659 CUs (76.1% of the total originally enrolled) successfully completed the program. It was found that the logistic model used to predict the success of the program based on its defined demographic and clinical characteristics was insufficient.
Conclusion: Overall, we consider that the PTP was successful in treating CUs. However, there is a need for further studies to investigate the factors affecting the overall success of the program.
