This edition of the Journal begins with Hochman's description of a novel new approach to treating onychomycosis with a 1064nm Nd:YAG laser. Although onychomycosis is often thought of as a medical issue, it certainly also has a very difficult to treat cosmetic aspect as well. If the results of this study hold up, this treatment may become very popular for this common problem.

The 2nd article describes Ransom's approach to concurrent fat grafting and ablative laser resurfacing for facial rejuvenation. More and more physicians are trying to use concurrent treatments to optimize therapy. This approach is likely to continue. Gold describes improvement in the appearance of cellulite with dual-wavelength, low-level laser energy and massage as providers continue to seek novel approaches to treating cellulite.

The next three articles explore the lift capabilities of hyaluronic acid fillers; a novel approach to treating acne with PDT using liposome encapsulated 5-ALA; and a novel explanation for the healing effect of Er: YAG laser during skin rejuvenation.

Finally Voth describes periocular milia en plaque successfully treated with an Er: YAG laser while Lee looks at topical application of growth factors after carbon dioxide fractional laser treatments.
