Editorial

This addition of the Journal starts off with several manuscripts dealing with the growth of non-invasive body contouring. Wassef starts with a discussion of the science of cellulite treatment and its long term effectiveness. Leclere follows with two studies evaluating laser lipolysis.

What follows are a series of interesting laser and light source studies. Chan looks at a retrospective analysis of the management of pigmented lesions in Asian skin using four different pigment lasers on Asian skin. This is followed by a split-face comparative study of 1,550 nm fractional photothermolysis and trichloroacetic acid 15% chemical peeling.

The treatment of scars remains challenging. Cho looks at targeted laser reconstruction of skin scars using 10,600-nm carbon dioxide fractional laser while; Kim evaluates a comparison of the effectiveness of non- ablative fractional laser as compared to ablative fractional laser treatment of thyroidectomy scars; Scrimali compares laser treatment vs radiotherapy in treatment of keloid scars.

What follows are a diverse group of fascinating studies. Alonso looks at treatment of dermatofibromas with the pulsed dye laser. Comstedt evaluates improvement of microstomia in scleroderma after intense pulsed light. Kim looks at the systemic effect of 830 nm LED phototherapy in burn wounds.

The final 2 studies look at non-laser cosmetic treatment of the skin. Berros looks at the treatment of facial skin with combined hyalurostructure and botulinum toxin injections while Kassim evaluated the skin brightening efficacy of a novel new skin brightening system using decapeptide-12.

The Journal contains articles that will be of interest to all esthetic physicians. Enjoy.
