This volume of the Journal has a wonderful mixture of studies, case reports, and letters. Acne, melasma, dermatosis papulosa nigra, and striae remain problems challenging to treat using energy-based devices. Gold takes a new look at low-level light and its impact on acne, while Lee evaluates a combination of low-fluence Q-switched Nd/YAG laser, and Jessner, the treatment of melasma. Dermatosis papulosa nigra is yet another very challenging condition. Lazzeri depends on 10,600-nm CO2 laser treatment for this skin condition; Gauglitz, evaluates laser treatment for stretch marks; and Seo, looks at a variety of lasers and their impact on acne.

The next series of papers look at the use of energy based technologies for unusual conditions such as telangiectases in Behcet's disease, erythema ab igne and calcinosis cutis.

In addition to manuscripts evaluating the use of lasers and laser-like technology, readers can look into the complications of filler migration, aesthetic earlobe remodeling, and people with a nose like an elephant's trunk!
