Effects of a Static Magnetic Field on Hemodynamics During Administration of a Cell Membrane Calcium Channel Blocking Agent

Abstract

We investigated the influence of a 0.2 T static magnetic field (SMF) on the carotid sinus region in rabbits during infusion of a cell membrane calcium channel blocking agent (verapamil). The experiments were carried out under pentobarbital anesthesia. Blood pressure, heart rate, and respiration were also monitored. Contrary to our earlier studies without verapamil (1–4), the SMF had no significant effect on blood pressure and heart rate during verapamil infusion. Changes in calcium membrane channel transport might be participants in SMF effects on sinocarotid baro-receptors.
