“Phosgene Exposure: A Case Report” documents a fatality to a dose well below the LD50. After submission of the abstract, the official investigative report of the Chemical Safety Board (CSB) provided new information. The initial real-time information reported a dose between 50 but not more than 100 ppm*min, well below the LD50. This was reportedly based on a dosimeter worn by the patient. Based on more compete information, the CSB later discovered the exposure was approximately 195,000 ppm of liquid phosgene providing the LD50 of 500 ppm in approximately 0.1 second. Therefore, our initial hypothesis that a phosgene dose below the LD50 resulted in death is false. The patient was clearly exposed to a lethal dose of phosgene.
