Effect of p-phenylene diamine on the activity of glutathione-s-transferase in guinea pig skin

Abstract

Dermal patch testing of p-phenylene diamine in guinea pigs showed dosage-and time-dependent histopathologic lesions. The increase in glutathione-s-transferase activity on p-phenylene diamine exposure suggested the involvement of a xenobiotic conjugation mechanism as a defense adaptation in dermal toxicity.
