Development of the EJPT during the last year

Page 77 | Received 05 Aug 2015, Accepted 27 Oct 2015, Published online: 19 Mar 2016

The year 2015 has gone fast, issues in EJPT have been filled with interesting research papers, we had an editorial board meeting during the WCPT congress in Singapore in May 2015, and in Autumn we submitted an application to possibly be indexed in MEDLINE. The application is under evaluation. The indexing in MEDLINE is an important step in being able to try to achieve an impact factor through increased visibility of the EJPT papers on MEDLINE. The latest report from the publisher shows that EJPT has a global audience, despite its European title. The global audience is one of the most important things for scientists in order to reach the world with their research. In addition, we have also contributed broadly to the knowledge base in the physiotherapy area. The publisher report shows that papers being downloaded by country are Sweden, Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Norway, Canada and New Zealand. The top countries in citing articles published in EJPT are Australia, Norway, Brazil, Sweden, USA, the Netherlands, Belgium and Canada.

Since the beginning of 2015 EJPT require a registration of randomized controlled trials that started their data collection in January 2015. This is a quality assurance measure for to-be-published RCT-papers that most of the physiotherapy journals in the world now require. The EJPT proudly contribute by this to better research in physiotherapy.

Finally, I would like to mention a few areas showing the broadness of the research published in EJPT during the last year. There are quite many papers from the field of psychometrics for various measures. This is important because the assessment and evaluation with reliable and valid measures is everything to us. There have been several studies over the past year on rehabilitation of different conditions, and about Physiotherapy as a profession. Methodologically EJPT is relatively balanced having both quantitative and qualitative approaches in published papers, which is satisfying because the methods are truly complementary in Physiotherapy research.

Overall, the year 2015 and the first half of the 2016 have been good and I hope the coming months of 2016 will be as successful or even better.
