Application of PDCA Method in Quality Management of Running Medical Records at the Department of Orthopedics

Abstract

Objective. To study the application and effect of the plan-do-check-action (PDCA) cycle method in implementing the medical record quality management of running medical records at the orthopedics department. Method. Checking and analyzing the problems in the running medical records regularly, then introducing the PDCA cycle method as an intervention for the problematic running medical records, and observing the effects. Result. After the application of the PDCA cycle for 3 months, the quality of the running medical records in the department has shown continuous improvement and the expected effect has been achieved, the percentage of high-quality running medical records reaching about 80% in each check. Conclusion. The PDCA cycle method is the most effective method for managing the quality of the running medical records of the orthopedics department and in improving the quality of the running medical records.
