  • There are two terms translated as ‘imagination’ which were distinguished by S.K.— ‘indbildningskraft’ and ‘phantasi’. The former is what relates to fantasy and most of his comments on imagination made in the Journals are concerned with such illusions (vide JP, vol, 2, pp. 311–314). By contrast ‘phantasi’ was associated with the Romantic imagination which for S.K. had the great merit of presenting an infinite goal (cf. CA, p. 40 (S.V., vol. 6, p. 134) SLW, p. 42 (S.V. vol. 6, p. 29).
