  • Small calculators having stacked registers are still relatively rare on the market, but the author is aware of the current availability of such instruments from at least three manufacturers. This work does not, of course, represent an endorsement of any particular instrument or manufacturer by the National Bureau of Standards.
  • An analogous operation, of special interest for radioactivity calculations, is the calculation of the net signal (S) and its standard deviation (os). One first loads the stack with the gross counts and places the background (or base-line) counts in M. The list (+√⇄r−) then yields S (in A) and os (in B).
