- The intermedia movement is as yet too young to be burdened by its own rhetoric. As a result, it is referred to in various ways, depending upon the aesthetics of the one doing the talking. Richard Kostelanetz, therefore, reflects his own interests in the drama in the title of his book, “The Theatre of Mixed Means.” Others have referred to it as “mixed media,” “action theatre,” “total theatre,” “kinetic environments,” and “staged” or “pure” happenings.
