  • “Perfect competition” is a hypothetical model of an economic situation wherein no producer has the power to influence the market price of his product and thus exploit the consumers, while, conversely, all consumers are fully conversant with, and able to take advantage of, their market opportunities. The adjective “perfect” here connotes the completeness and not the excellence of the situation, but its emotional loading is apt to imply universal desirability
