  • Berne, Eric. Games People Play, New York; Grove Press Inc., 1964. Paperback, the author is a prominent California psychiatrist His special area of investigation deals with the dead serious games we play with each other almost everyday of our lives. The book provides insights into your own hidden self.
  • Fast, Julius. Body Language, New York: Pocket Books, Simon and Schuster Inc., 1971. Paperback, was on the best seller list for many months. The author contends that your body doesn't know how to lie. Unconsciously it telegraphs your thoughts as you fold your arms, cross your arms, walk, stand, move your eyes and mouth. A very intriguing little book.
  • Fiedler, Fred and Martin Chemers. Leadership and Effective Management, Glenview, Illinois: Scott, Foresman and Co., 1974, Paperback, this is one book in the management application series that is concerned with the application of contemporary research, theory, and techniques. After reading the book the practitioner should be able to apply the methodology described.
  • Haney, William V. Communication and Organizational Behavior, Hoemwood, Illinois: Richard D. Irwin Inc., 1967. Hardback, this book is designed for communicators, for people who deal with other people in organizations such as business, government, military and hospital. The text contains authentic documented cases pertaining to communication breakdowns that could have been avoided. The author suggests correctives that could have been used to prevent such breakdowns.
  • Nichols, Ralph. “Listening is a Ten Part Skill,” Nations Business, July, 1957. A brief article on how you can improve your listening skills. Many managers and supervisors neglect one of their most important skills, the art of listening.
  • Patton, Bobby and Kim Giffin. Problem-Solving Group Interaction, New York: Harper and Row, 1973. Paperback, the authors have devoted their lives to small group behavior and problem solving techniques. The book focuses on working in groups and provides realistic solutions to small group problems. It also emphasizes leadership behavior and objective methods in which that behavior can be measured.
  • Redding, Charles and George Sanboum. Business and Industrial Communication, New York: Harper and Row, 1964. Hardback, the book contains 551 pages of articles from business journals written by noted authorities in the area of communication.
  • No Author Cited. Understanding How Groups Work, Washington, D.C. Adult Education Association of the U.S.A., 1955. A pamphlet that discusses group dynamics. It discusses such questions as what is a group? How does a group work? Why do some groups fail? 48 pages that spell out that your behaviors in a group may be more important than what you have to say.
  • Wagner, Joseph. Successful Leadership in Groups and Organizations, San Francisco: Chandler Publishing Co., 1959. Paperback, deals with parliamentary law and the planning of agendas.
