- It is important to note that the USDOT interest shown in. Louisville's South Corridor, particularly in the widening of New Cut Road, has fostered other improvement programs under the auspices of the city of Louisville and the Kentucky Department of Transportation. The city has paid for the design and construction of the middle third of New Cut Road between Kenwood Drive and Palatka Road. Currently, the Kentucky Department of Transportation is completing its design of the southern section of New Cut Road, between Palatka Road and Outer Loop; widening of this latter section is anticipated in the near future.
